The Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology

The next frontier in cancer research

The Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology was established in 2019 with an initial pledge of $102,265,000 from the Pelotonia community.

Led by inaugural Director Dr. Zihai Li, this research initiative focuses on harnessing the body’s immune system to fight cancer at all levels. The PIIO has achieved the following milestones:

  • • Launched 99 human clinical trials
  • • Obtained $32 million in annual funding from new grants
  • • Assisted in immunotherapeutic studies relating to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • • Published more than 500 peer-reviewed articles
